South Africans don’t hold back when it comes to birthdays. Nice birthday messages can really make someone feel extra happy on that special day which happens once a day. South Africans love their culture and when it comes to birthday’s they hardly ever hold back with birthday wishes.

Year after year, as people get more and more old birthdays are celebrated, and people exchange special birthday greetings for the person who is celebrating their birthday. Not everyone celebrates birthdays, but for those who do, it can be seen as a very serious occasion.

People will send gifts, flowers and almost anything else in order to show their love for someone on their birthday. Many people believe that birthday cards will soon be phased out as we now enter the world of social networking and sending messages online. It is very obvious that more people will actually send messages online as opposed to written out cards, but that does not mean cards will be phased away entirely.

There are still many paper companies which create handmade paper for the sole purpose of sending birthday messages. The fact that birthday cards will still be around for a very long time is also quite obvious, if someone hosts some sort of party or event to celebrate their birthday, it is etiquette to not go to the party empty handed. In the typical SA culture, some people will take a gift with them, and almost all of the time they will include a card with a personal birthday message for the person. For those who don’t take gifts to the party, this gives them even more of a reason to take a card with and write a brief message on it for the person celebrating their birthday.
